Magnificent materials!

This week in year two the children took a walk around outside, in to the playground, to see what materials are used everyday.  We looked at metal, plastic, wood, fabric, rubber and also sponge! We listed where these materials were used and for what objects.  Later on we tested some of these materials for their flexibility, stretchiness, squashiness and if they were able to return to their original shape after being handled.  We also looked at the properties of certain materials and why they’re used for certain jobs, I.e. glass is used for windows because it is transparent and waterproof.
Towards the end of the week the children programmed beebots to go from one given location to another. They had to work as a team and listen to each other to make sure they programmed correctly.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
The year two team.
