Matching, Making, Moving Minibeasts

We’ve had more fun this week learning about different minibeasts as part of our ‘Wriggle and Crawl’ topic.

We looked at photos of different minibeasts as babies and adults. We learnt about metamorphosis and had to match the adult to the baby. Some were much harder than others!

Later in the week, we used modelling clay to create our own insects, thinking carefully about the three main body parts – the head, thorax and abdomen – and how many legs they have and where they connect. We made other minibeasts too. After we’d created them, we worked reciprocally to use the iPads to take lots of photos of our minibeasts, moving them slightly between shots, giving the impression they were moving. We had lots of fun and it really looked like the minibeasts were moving!
