Mix It!

For the past couple of weeks, the children in Year 2 have enjoyed the companion project ‘Mix It’. This is part of our Autumn topic Movers and Shakers. The children have explored primary and secondary colours by mixing paint to create different colours and shades. Once dry, the children cut out circles of the colours they created and stuck them to an outline of a paint palette. We discussed the different names that we could give their colours such as cotton candy pink, sunset orange, and deep ocean blue. The children added some creative names next to each colour.

The class then had a go at making clay discs and using a variety of objects to make impressions in the clay. They then painted the clay with primary colours before using it to print onto paper. The impressions in the clay made lovely patterns on the paper.

All of the children listened to instructions carefully during these practical lessons. Well done, Year 2!
