Nail Soup

Nail Soup

Back with a BANG some might say. After sharing festive stories, the children were riled up and ready to learn. We began the term learning our new model text which is called ‘Nail Soup’.

When learning the text, we discovered that the wise traveller used the following ingredients when making the soup:

  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 3 sweet potatoes
  • a dash of water
  • herbs
  • a shiny nail?

The children simply would not believe me that Nail Soup is…delicious! So, whilst we were doing PE outside, Mrs Walkinshaw kindly chopped, mixed and cobbled together all of the ingredients and the children tried it for themselves.

“This soup is 10 out of 10!” screamed Mason.

“Can I have some more?” asked Florence.

“That is sooo tasty.” said Lucie.

They were certainly surprised as to how good it tasted. I expect they will be asking you very soon if they can cook some nutritious nail soup at home (good luck, mum and dad).

I’m sure after a few weeks, we will have learnt our cumulative tale so well that we can begin planning our very own stories.

A really positive start to the Spring Term. You NAILED it, Year Three!
