Nemes to meet you!

This week saw the culmination of our Egyptian project with some art work designed around the Pharaoh Nemes (pronounced neh-mehs!).

These were headwear and headdresses worn by pharaohs which came down in flaps around the side of the head.  They were designed to be big, bold, bright and beautiful.

We thought they may have been intended to serve many purposes;

  • to show how rich they were
  • to show how important they were
  • to intimidate people
  • to scare their enemies
  • to separate them from normal people
  • to place them in a position of power and responsibility

As we are also important in Year 5, we have designed our own Nemes to show how responsible, powerful and intimidating we are!

Well done on such resourceful use of colour and pattern to create these amazing pictures Year 5!
