Netball Match v. Atlantic Academy.

“Well in!” netball club, an absolutely fantastic start to the season this afternoon playing a friendly against Atlantic Academy and winning 7-3!

Battling the insane wind levels and ever present threat of rain, the game started with a strong lead from Southill with Lillie scoring the first and only goal in the first quarter, a result of determined posession and excellent passing from our players. The second quarter saw an equaliser from Atlantic yet Southill came racing back with another goal from Jess, very well deserved after many attempts! In the third quarter, Ellouise scored a magnificent goal to equalise 3 all after more strong possession and excellent linking up between players. We saved our best bits to last however, with Southill scoring the only goals in the final quarter. Another blinder of a goal from Lexi and a hat trick from Lola!

It was so great to see all the skills, tactics and strengths we have been working on so far this term come into play. Amazing sneaky bounce passes, no fear when attacking and securing possession, zippy speedy link-ups and passing down the court, superb defence under the goal and some brilliant evasion and phenomenal marking from some of our newer players. Well done to Ellie-Belle who’s magnetic marking made it nigh on impossible for Atlantic to maintain possession from a back line throw-in.

The resilience and determination of the team today brought a very well deserved win, well done everybody, I am beyond proud of how well you all played as a team. The Atlantic coach and I were blown away by play from both schools, saying that it was some of the best playing we have seen. I am excited to see how far Southill’s Netball team will go this season. Thank you to all our supporters cheering us on and to Mr Frampton for the amazing photographs! Keep your eyes peeled for a reciprocal match against Atlantic soon!

  1. Sadly, I only managed to witness the second half of the match but I was so impressed! The children have improved significantly and thoroughly deserved to come out on top. Well done, Team Southill. You did magnificently.

Although it was Lillie that scored the 1st goal & Lola got the hat-trick 🤣 i didnt know who was who from the sideline so I might have told you the wrong names but I’m not sure Lola will let Lillie the glory this time 🙈
