Netball Match v. Chickerell

Phew, what a scorcher of a day to play a netball match, but play we did and what a pair of games! Today the Netball Club hosted Chickerell Primary School years 5 and 6 to play two games and it was a brilliant afternoon.

Our Year 6 team with Lillie, Lola, Fern, Ellie-Belle, Florence and Oliver started strong and stayed dominant throughout the game. Their confidence in using their height, passing and maintaining marking increased as the game progressed with Lillie scoring two goals in the first quarter. Maintaining our defensive positions in the second quarter, Ellie-Belle then scored another two. Following with some fantastic passing and moves in play, Oliver scored two more in the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw Florence scoring a hat-trick to bring the game total to:

Southill 9 – 0 Chickerell

Our year 5 team with Becci, Coco, Neive, Josie, Imogen, Sienna and Grace played a strong yet yo-yo game with a 2 nil lead, then Chickerell followed up to bring their score to 3. Determined and resilient, our Southill players were not to be beaten. They stayed strong, worked so much better as a team and used each other to pass the ball effectively into the scoring-D. They geared up their marking, maintained possession and clear passing with Imogen, Coco, Sienna and Josie all scoring in this match to bring the final result to a fantastic:

Southill 6 – 3 Chickerell

We are beyond proud of the whole netball club and how they played today. We saw all our training and practice come into play and saw so many improvements both in individuals and the teams as a whole. Well done Netball Club, phenomenal scores from phenomenal players in games to be proud of on the hottest day of the year, your resilience and sportsmanship has done the school proud.

Thank you to Miss England for assisting with the umpiring and to all our parents for your dedicated support and encouragement. Thank you also to Mr Frampton for the great action shots below!
