Netball Match v. St. Augustines

Another sunny afternoon at Southill Primary and a perfect day for hosting another netball match, this time against St. Augustine’s School!

It was an amazing match proving we have come so far as a team since we started back in October.  The game was won by the visiting team, 15-3, yet Southill can proudly hold their heads high because we played hard!

After warming up to the match in the first quarter, we found our feet in the second with a smashing goal from Lexi out wide in the ‘D’!  We then turned on the pressure and found our spaces, warmed up our intercepting and began to push the oppostition.

The third quarter saw another blinder of a goal from Beau who specialises in shooting from afar!  We then won the final quarter by dominating the court with super defence tactics and intercepting, making it hard for St. Augustines to keep their possession.  Great passing and team work resulted in a super, final goal from Lucy.

It was fantastic to see the drills we have been practising at training come into play with excellent passing and linking players straight to the goal and fantastic fancy footwork keeping us free in spaces. Player of The Match goes to Lucy Smale who shone with her space finding, marking and shooting, well done Lucy!

Many thanks to Mr Frampton for the superb match photos – I am sure you agree they show the skill,  effort, resilience and determination of the whole team today!

It was wonderful to see every member of the team going home with a smile on their faces, knowing they kept going, were resilient and did not once give up, enjoying every second of it.  Well done Team Southill, you made me proud.  Biscuits and squash in the sunshine sealed a brilliant afternoon and start to the weekend!  Keep your eyes peeled for news of more friendly matches coming soon!

It was brilliant to see the team in action, they did a great job of working together! Thank you for all your hard work, Mrs Hill. Despite the score, the team kept their positive energy up and showed such resilience! They should all be really proud of themselves. We hope netball club continues next term!
