Shakespeare by the Sea – Romeo and Juliet

For the first time ever, Years 3 and 4 at Southill Primary School graced the Weymouth Pavilion Stage as they participated in the ‘Shakespeare by the Sea’ festival. This event saw three schools perform three different Shakespeare plays:

Romeo and Juliet – brought to you by the Mighty SPS

A Midsummer Night’s Dream – performed by St Johns

Macbeth – performed by Prince of Wales

This half term, the children have been working their socks off! Not just on rehearsals but by fully immersing themselves into the world of Romeo and Juliet through their reading and writing lessons. They know the story so incredibly well and this was reflected in their outstanding performance! Every single child graced the stage with confidence, passion and with a real desire to represent Southill Primary School to the very best of their ability. Miss Hutton and I are truly in awe of the incredible actors and actresses that most definitely stole the show with their mesmerising performance.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who bought a ticket to come and see the show, everybody who has helped with costumes, props, lines, songwriting, performances, transport, logistics, social media promotion and the slideshow. We would also like to thank Miss Olive who very kindly came in to choreograph the fantastic party scene which the children LOVED. Thank you to Mr. Frampton for capturing the magic of the show on his camera (I’m sure you’ll agree the pictures are phenomenal). Everybody’s collective efforts have truly made a BIG difference, and we are immensely grateful for all of your support.

Well done, Years 3 and 4. You have made us so unbelievably proud.
