Super Sketchers!

Super Sketchers!

Feeling inspired by Sir David Attenborough, we began looking at birds of prey. We watched a range of short video documentaries on how they successfully glide through the air and can reach plummeting speeds of up to 200mph!

We then looked at some stunning photographs of birds in flight. We studied their wings, beaks, eyes and even their talons. This was important as we then set off on drawing these beautiful birds in our sketch books. We began by focusing on the eye of a falcon. This helped us master skills such as: shading, tone, crosshatch, attention to finer details and the scale of what we are tasked to draw.

We then began sketching the birds gliding through the air. Mr. Prior demonstrated how to scale a drawing by  drawing circles very lightly to mark out how big parts of the bird will be. This will then mean the head doesn’t end up bigger than the wings!

Some super sketching. Well done, Team Three!
