‘The Southill Sound Collector’

 

In topic, we’ve been learning all about sound. Specifically, we have been looking at the poem by Roger McGough called ‘The Sound Collector’. We watched a live performance of Roger reading his enthralling poem and this got our creative juices flowing. We thought it would be a cracking idea to try and write a poem entitled ‘The Southill Sound Collector’.

 

The children had to think about the kinds of noises they are likely to hear around Southill and what the school would sound like if these noises we taken away.

 

-Munching on biscuits

-The screaming of the school bell

-The groaning in the staffroom

-The crinkling of crisp packets

 

The children were certainly forthcoming in what they would likely hear around the school. Here are just a few children performing their brilliant poems…
