The Year 4 BRILLIANT Brass Band

After 10 weeks of music lessons provided by Mr Randall of Dorset Music Service, Year 4 finally got to showcase their brass band skills to the whole school including their parents and carers who came to watch.  They began with a listening exercise; knowing when to start and stop copying a rhythm played by Mr Randall.   As following instructions is a key element to not only learning to play a musical instrument but also playing in a band like theirs – this was a good introduction.  They then moved on to showing us some of the different notes that they had learnt.

Next they played a rhythm with notes that they had written themselves and they performed this entire piece by memory which was really impressive!  Finally came some tunes that we all knew which really showed off their skills and the progress that they have all made over the last 10 weeks.

We are very grateful to Mr Randall for coming in to teach us every week and to Mr Price for conducting.  Some members of Year 4 have chosen to continue music lessons provided by Dorset Music Service, who knows they may even represent our school one day as part of a bigger band!

Well done Year 4, you really impressed and inspired us all with your brilliant brass band skills!
