Welcome to Alchemy Island!

Our new topic this term has given us mystery and suspense already and we are only 2 weeks in!  It began with a visit from Mrs Wood to ask us to explore some samples she had received from some alchemists on a faraway Island called Alchemy Island.

Immediately intrigued, we have spent the past few weeks analysing, exploring, observing and separating these materials to find out more.  We have tested their properties including transparency, magnetism and electrical conductivity.  We have also worked hard to separate some water samples, have a look at how clear our water is, we are so proud!

We were then fortunate enough to visit the Fountain of Gold and observe what happens with a chemical reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, so exciting!

We have also created some lovely portal images of what we think it would look like if we travelled to Alchemy Island and we have created some jingles asking permission for us to enter, phew!

Have a look for yourself and see what we have been up to so far…
