Well HELLO Haiku Poems!

Well HELLO Haiku Poems!

Today, the children were introduced to Haiku poems. So far, we have found out that Haiku poems originate from Japan and only contain three lines.

Each line must also contain a certain number of syllables. The first line of every Haiku has 5 syllables, the second 7 syllables and the final line contains a further 5 syllables.

Today, we looked at an example of a Haiku poem linking to our topic ‘Predator!’ The children were expected to perform the poem with volume, expression and intonation.

Now that we are more familiar with the structure of a Haiku, the children will now aim to write a poem of their own about a range of creatures from the animal kingdom.
