You just can’t beat BENCHBALL!

You just can’t beat BENCHBALL!

This half term, children are participating in a competitive game known as benchball. This non-traditional sport will:

-Develop children’s running, jumping, throwing and catching

-improve their flexibility, control and balance

-teach them how to attack and defend

-reflect on their performance and consider how to improve in order to achieve their personal best.

After selecting team captains using ‘The Wheel of Names’, children braved the windy weather and competed to become the benchball champions. What a spectacle! After only two weeks, the children have really understood the rules of the game and are now fully immersing themselves in the sport. We saw games played to a very high standard and team captains taking charge of their teams.

Well done to Zachary’s team (aka the Zach Attacks) who came out the victors this afternoon. The children are already talking excitedly about our PE lesson next week which is music to my ears.

Keep it up, Year 4!
