Cracking Coordinates!

This week in Maths, Year Six have been consolidating their learning of coordinates. We started recapping how to plot and read a set of coordinates in the first quadrant, and then moved onto all four quadrants which involved reading negative numbers.

After this, we explored translating and reflecting shapes across all four quadrants. We reminded ourselves that translation means to move the shape and reflection means to create a mirror image. The class worked through some challenging tasks where they had to reflect shapes on a different set of axis, for example when y=2 or when x=1. We also spent some time discussing our top tips for answering reflection and translation questions accurately.

Fantastic resilient and reflective learning Year Six  – you have cracked coordinates! Well done!
