DOMVS Writing Competition

Congratulations to Amelie and Lysander who wrote excellent stories to enter The DOMVS Children’s Writing Prize competition. With their families, they were invited to a fancy prizegiving ceremony at Shire Hall in Dorchester this week along with pupils from other local schools. Tensions ran high as the two highly commended entries and then the runner up were read out. All three positions were won by pupils from Sunninghill Prep School. But then Julian Fellowes (famous actor, novelist, film director and screenwriter) began to read out the winning story. All eyes fell on Southill Primary’s Lysander as we realised that it was his story that had impressed Lord Fellowes the most and he had won! Lord Fellowes congratulated Lysander on his wonderful story because he had written from his own experience, creating believable characters and events.

Mr Mason and I were so proud to attend the prizegiving ceremony this week to see our two awesome writers collect their certificates and prize. Well done Amelie and Lysander – you were both absolutely brilliant!
