Francis

In writing this half term, the children will be focusing on creating suspense in their writing. Today, we watched an incredible animated video called Francis. It involved a rebellious teenager making her way out of a campsite late at night in order to venture onto a ‘peaceful’ lake in a little rowing boat. However, things soon take a turn for the worst…

We talked about the use of empty words (such as shadow, something, silhouette, presence) in order to keep the threat hidden and mysterious. We also discussed the power of a short sentence in order to catch the reader off-guard. The children were really excited to get going and produced some fantastic pieces of writing.

Well done, Year 4
