We have had an awesome first day of our first ever Southill Primary residential.
Leeson House is such a beautiful place and there were deer in the field welcoming us when we arrived! Our first activity was a walk to Dancing Ledge. It was quite chilly but the children were all very resilient and enjoyed listening to stories on the way and finding out all about the geology of the local area. We had a cosy picnic lunch in Spyway Barn and stopped off at the church in Langton Matravers to find out all about the history of smuggling in the area. Then it was back to the house to get warm, unpack our bags and chill in our rooms.
Dinner was delicious pizza, chips and salad followed by fruit crumble and everyone ate lots before going back outside for night orienteering. To succeed at this we had to stay together in our teams and work reciprocally. I was very impressed because everyone was helping each other and saying kind and supportive things.
As I write, the children are having a bedtime story with Miss Hutton and then it will be time to get into pyjamas, brush teeth and get into bed. We need plenty of rest so that we will be ready for another full on day tomorrow.
