Maths Orienteering and Books with Buddies

Maths Orienteering and Books With Buddies

In order to consolidate all of the learning that Year 6 have done throughout the year, every Friday we venture outside in order to take on a maths orienteering course. Questions are spread around the school grounds which children must find and answer correctly before moving onto the next challenge.

The course today involved converting various units of measure. Kilograms to grams, litres to mililitres even pounds to ounces! The children demonstrated excellent map-reading skills, teamwork, determination and just how much they’ve learnt in maths this academic year.

Outdoors in the sunshine, good exercise and learning maths?? What more could you possibly ask for!

We also had time this afternoon to once again meet our buddies and this time (after a strenuous maths lesson) the children sat back, relaxed and read their buddies a story. It was lovely seeing the children sat in either the shade or the sunshine reading together and bonding. A great way to end the day!
