Southill vs Redlands

Southill vs Redlands

Today marked a very special occasion; The very first Southill football match of the calendar year! It has been a very long time since we’ve been able to organise competitive football matches so the children were buzzing to play. Instead of playing another school however, Southill faced Redlands FC (which included some pupils from Southill in the team).

In the first half, Southill settled into an early rhythm and managed to score 5 goals. Redlands also scored an excellent low drive into the bottom corner making it 5-1 at half time. In the second half, Redlands were awarded an early penalty for handball which was dispatched confidently. Despite conceding so early in the second half, Southill regrouped and refocused which resulted in the final score being:

Southill – 8

Redlands – 3

A huge thank you to Lee Roberts (the Redlands coach) for helping to organise such a positive and competitive match and to Mr. Frampton for taking some great pictures of the children in action. I would also like to thank everybody who came to support both teams. We really value your support. Finally, I would like to thank the children for playing brilliantly and showing outstanding sportsmanship despite the humid conditions.
