We made nature’s colour charts by collecting at all the beautiful autumn coloured leaves and sorting them from the darkest to the lightest shade.  Aren’t they beautiful?  Some of us even managed to sort the colours by size too which – how clever!

One child asked to do some pond dipping last week when we planned the session together, and so pond dipping we did!  We found two newts and loads of other pondlife which was amazing for this time of year.  It was lovely to hear the squeals of excitement and also to see the lovely clean pond that volunteers sorted out in the summer flourishing.  No sign of the frog today!

God’s eyes were perfected, steels were sparked and a chocolate factory themed muddy kitchen was created.

We had two apprentice bread makers who mixed and kneaded away under the supervision and support of the chefs from last week.  It was wonderful skill sharing.  Then we cooked dough on the sticks and even made some flat bread that we shared together.

We also cooked pumpkin and sunflower seeds in soy sauce.  Everyone loved this healthy snack and some children even mixed the seeds up with the warm bread.  I am told that it was really tasty.  Now everyone would like to try  and mix seeds in to the dough before cooking it and try to create seeded bread!

Finally we munched, reflected and planned next week’s session.  Even the rain didn’t put us off – it was refreshing to be out in the elements.  So really it was more like munching in the rain rather than singing!
