Staying for lunch

Reception children continue to settle in well to their new routines, making new friends and learning new things together. This week we were excited to be staying at school for our lunch. Look at the delicious food!

We enjoyed sitting together to eat our food.

We also enjoyed the sunny weather, spending time outside on the bikes and scooters, playing in our outdoor kitchen, digging with toy diggers and looking after the babies!

We have already started to develop our physical skills to help us when we use smaller equipment and write letters and words. Here we are strengthening our shoulders, wrists and arms using scarves.

Finally, an exciting moment when we started our new phonics lessons, following the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds programme. We found out how to say the phoneme (sound) sssssssssssssssss and to read the grapheme (sound written down) ‘s’. Have a look at this picture. When you see the snake, say ‘snake’. When you see the grapheme, say ‘ssssss’.
