What a week!

I can’t believe we have already reached the end of week 2 in year 3! I have been amazed by how well the children have settled into KS2 already and how hard they have been working to build on their learning powers. Keep it up, year 3!

The children continue to be really enthusiastic towards our history project ‘Through the Ages’ and are really looking forward to our trip to Stonehenge in just under 2 weeks! They have learned all about definitions of time including BC, AD, a century, a millennium, an era, and the meaning of circa. They also learned about the Stone Age this week and how it is split into 3 different time periods, the first being the ‘Paleolithic Era’, the ‘Mesolithic Era’ and finally the ‘Neolithic Era’. They tried really hard to learn the correct pronunciation for these eras – amazing!

During our RE lesson this week we were discussing the meaning of ‘identity’ and how it links closely to feeling a sense of ‘belonging’. The children worked in small groups to come up with something they all believe in. They then had to create a name for the group, a logo and three main aims. They came up with some fantastic ideas such as ‘Climate Change Crew’, ‘Sea Squad’ and even the ‘Cat Academy’! Here are some pictures of the children presenting their ideas:
