The Invisible Boy

The Invisible Boy

In Book Talk this morning, we looked at the story of ‘The Invisible Boy’ by Trudy Ludwig. We followed in the footsteps of Brian. A quiet boy who appears to be invisible to everybody in his school.

After listening to the story, the children had a chat about the following questions:

-How did Micah and J.T. choose players for their teams?

– Was it a fair way to select players? Why or why not?

-When Madison and her friends talked about her birthday part in front of Brian, do you think they were just being thoughtless or were they being mean to Brian on purpose? Explain.

-Was there a better way for Madison to handle the situation when she and her friends started to talk about her party in front of those kids who weren’t invited?

-How many kids did it take in this story to help Brian begin to feel less invisible?

-If there are kids who you see that are being treated as invisible, what could you do to make them feel more valued and appreciated?

It was great hearing the children explaining their answers, challenging other viewpoints and wanting to find out what happens next in the story!

Well done Year Three. I’m sure that if anybody ever felt like Brian in our story, we would be able to help them!
