World Bee Day!

We have been learning a lot about bees and have enjoyed learning our story of The Sleepy Bumblebee. This week we have been thinking of other places for the bee to sleep and we wrote text messages to him to help him out.

Today is world bee day so we celebrated in our class by dressing up and taking part in lots of bee-themed activities. We did some beautiful watercolour flower paintings, had a bee drawing club, made bee masks and went on a bee walk.

We also had a special visitor who came to talk to us about when she used to look after bees in her garden – Mrs Sharpe! She talked to us about her beekeeper suit, the honeycomb, wax, candles and lots more.

It was wonderful being able to touch and smell the honeycomb and bee products.

Here are some photos taken during our talk.

Thanks very much Mrs Sharpe.

We will try on her bee-keeping suit on Friday!
