Year 6 Hunt for Fossils!

Today, Year 6 braved the cold weather as they ventured down to Charmouth beach with he hope to find some fossils!

The trip was a part of our science learning as we have started to learn all about evolution and how fossils provide information about living things that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago. The children were given the opportunity to show our guide from Charmouth how much they knew already about this.

After explaining what to look for and how to find them, we walked along the beach and started to hunt for some 200 million year old remains! The children uncovered some superb fossils, including dozens of whole ammonites, crystal ammonites, belemnites and lots of fool’s gold!

We were all very impressed with the children’s behaviour and how enthusiastic they were across the whole day. Well done Year 6!
