You’re Called What!?

You’re Called What!?

Our topic took us all the way to the Galapagos this week as we began to explore some of the unique creatures that inhabit the volcanic islands. We began by reading ‘You’re Called What?’ by Kes Gray; an extremely funny book which had us all guffawing in fits of laughter. If you would like to enjoy the story again, why not watch the following clip-

Each child was given a creature from the island to research. We would then feedback what we have learnt about each creature to the rest of the class From the Blue-Footed Booby to the Giant Tortoise, the Galapagos Penguin to the Fur Seal, we certainly learnt a great deal about these very unusual creatures. Specifically, the children were tasked with finding out what features demonstrate that the animal they had chosen had adapted and evolved to suit its environment.

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon! Feel free to ask your child about something they’ve learnt about the Galapagos Islands and the creatures that inhabit them.
