Building Experts

We’ve been busy building in Year Two.

As part of our ‘Towers, tunnels and turrets’ project, we’ve been using different construction equipment to find out about how to build tall, stable towers. We’ve also been learning about bridges. We looked at photos of bridges in our local area and from around the world and had a go at classifying and sorting them. We had a go at making our own spaghetti and marshmallow bridges which was very tricky but sticky fun! Have a look at the photos below.

In English, we’ve been ‘building’ our own stories by innovating our class story ‘Billy the Brave Knight’ and thought of some new places Billy and Muffin may pass on their journey to save the Princess – from red, bubbling volcanoes to eerie, creepy cottages and deep, dark caves. The children had lots of good ideas and added some amazing adjectives.

In Maths, we’ve continued to build on our understanding of place value and use it to help us when adding. We’ve been resourceful learners, using our 100 squares to help us add by jumping on and our dienes to build and add numbers using the tens and ones.

What brilliant builders you are Class Two. Bob would be very proud!
