The Marvellous Moon Map

This week we have been reading a book called The Marvellous Moon Map by Teresa Heapy. We have made our own moon maps, explored folding paper, used our imagination in woodland small world scenes and created moon pictures, constructions and patterns.

In our mathematical learning we explored numbers 4 and 5 and played a game using double-sided counters and 5-frames.

I would also like to share some pictures of home learning – this week we have been starting to focus more on our handwriting and letter formation. Here are 2 pictures from Luna and George showing us their handwriting. Also some fantastic reading at home. Well done! Please feel free to send any photos of home learning to me so that I can celebrate. You can find weekly homework ideas here: https://www.southill.dorset.sch.uk/year-groups/reception/

George continues to love phonics and excitedly tells us about the new sound he has learnt each day. He was very proud of the telescope he made and couldn’t wait to make the paper boat from ‘The Marvellous Moon Map.’ Thank you Mrs Puddick, Mrs Kench and Mrs Cottingham.

Ostin is very much enjoying everything he does at school. He is excited to tells us the new sounds he has learnt, and will always grab his book bag to read to us each day. He very much enjoyed making a paper boat at home and told us all about his telescope & ‘marvellous moon’. Thank you so much to Mrs Puddick, Mrs Kench and Mrs Cottingham. We love that he loves his school so much.
