Music
Music is life. That’s why our hearts have beats

Why teach Music?
At Southill Primary, music is an integral and valued part of school life. We believe that music should be fun, inspiring and inclusive, giving all children the opportunity to express themselves creatively and develop a lifelong appreciation of music.
Our music curriculum encourages children to be reflective and expressive, building confidence through singing, performing, composing and listening. Through a wide range of musical experiences, pupils develop collaboration, resilience and enjoyment, seeing themselves as musicians and understanding the power of music to connect people and communities.
We are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of background or ability, has meaningful opportunities to participate in high-quality music-making and performance as part of their broader cultural and personal development.
