Friday 22 May 2026 Maths on the Move The sunshine was scorching, but that did not stop us from putting our maths skills to the test! Today's maths orienteering lesson was the perfect mix of learning, teamwork and plenty of energy-burning fun.Children worked in pairs and were given a map along with a starting number. Their mission was to plan the best route around the school grounds to find hidden cards packed with geometry questions. From coordinates and 2D shapes to tessellation and rotation, every challenge tested the skills we have been learning over the past few weeks. The school grounds quickly became a hive of excitement as children sprinted from clue to clue, eager to solve as many questions as possible. There was fantastic teamwork, brilliant problem-solving and lots of determination on display. It was wonderful to see everyone so enthusiastic about maths while also enjoying fresh air and exercise. A lesson full of movement, smiles and learning? You really cannot ask for more than that!

Friday 22 May 2026 Finding the time! Who has the time?! This week the children kicked off the time unit in maths by, well, finding the time!! The children worked in pairs to find the time to the o'clock, half past, quarter to, quarter past and even to five minutes past and to the hour. It is a challenge but the children stuck with it, helping each other when they made a mistake and working to clear their time bingo cards as quickly as they could.

Thursday 21 May 2026 Order in the Court! Learning About the Rule of Law This afternoon, we continued our recent focus on British Values by exploring the important theme of the Rule of Law. In previous assemblies, we have discussed mutual respect and democracy and this week's assembly encouraged children to think about why laws exist and why they matter. We began by discussing the purpose of laws and it was wonderful to hear the children's thoughtful responses. They explained that laws help to keep people happy, safe and ensure fairness for everyone. The school was then introduced to Judge Tom (not Judge Judy!) as the whole school became the jury in a fun and engaging courtroom roleplay. Some familiar faces were brought to trial for being ‘rule-breakers'. Laura was accused of stealing after stationery and Chromebooks were ‘discovered' in her car, Mrs Murray and Emily had apparently been caught fighting in the staffroom and Dan stood accused of criminal damage after dramatically flipping tables, throwing chairs and ‘smashing' his

Wednesday 20 May 2026 Ping Pong Pandemonium: Summer Sports Club Serves Up Fun! This week at Summer Sports Club, the weather couldn't quite decide what it was doing (classic British behaviour), so we made the sensible choice and headed indoors for some fast-paced table tennis fun!We kicked things off with a deceptively simple but strangely addictive challenge using just the ping pong ball. Working in pairs, children stood opposite each other across a table and had to bounce the ball back and forth, increasing the number of successful bounces by exactly one each time. Easy at first… until it definitely wasn't. One particularly impressive pair managed to reach a brilliant total of 8 consecutive bounces - a true display of focus, patience and possibly Jedi-level coordination.Next up was our table tennis relay, where we introduced the paddle into the mix. Children had to strike the ball, catch it in their other hand, and then pass the paddle on to their partner, who had to repeat the challenge. It required sharp concentration, steady hands, and some excelle

Monday 18 May 2026 Mini Professors: A Day of Chemical Reactions, Surprises and Playground Rockets! What an exciting and fascinating session we had with Professor Lee as the children became real-life scientists, exploring the magical world of chemical reactions! The children discovered that a chemical reaction happens when two or more substances mix together and change into something completely new. But rather than stopping at science definitions, we explored chemical reactions through examples the children could easily relate to in everyday life.We began by talking about something many of the children had seen before — an apple turning brown after a bite is taken. The children were fascinated to learn that this happens because enzymes inside the apple react with oxygen in the air, changing the colour of the fruit.Next, we explored the science behind baking cakes. What starts as a mixture of ingredients transforms completely once heat is added in the oven. We discussed how many chemical reactions need heat to make changes happen, causing things to rise, harden, change textur

Friday 15 May 2026 A Record-Breaking Bounce Bonanza! It had been a little while since our last Bounce Bonanza (mainly because of the very long process of pumping up all the balls and preparing the equipment!), but it was absolutely worth the wait. We were thrilled to welcome a record number of children to Fitness Friday, all eager to take on the challenge of dribbling their chosen ball as many times as possible around our marked playground course.Children of all ages enthusiastically joined in, developing their hand-eye coordination, ball skills, and spatial awareness, while also enjoying plenty of movement and exercise before the start of the school day. The playground was full of determination, concentration, and lots of bouncing fun!A huge thank you to our Bronze Ambassadors for kindly helping to pack away all the equipment afterwards, and to Mr. Frampton for capturing some brilliant photos of the children's wonderfully focused concentration faces during the event.
