Welcome to my review of another successful week at Southill Primary 😊
Remembrance Day - A Proud Moment for Southill
A huge thank you and well done to our two Year 6 pupils who represented Southill Primary at the Remembrance Day parade on Sunday. They did us incredibly proud as they laid a wreath alongside children from all the schools in the Chesil Collaboration. A special thanks also goes to Shelley, who attended and organised our participation in this important event.
Remembrance is a time when we pause to honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our country. It's important that we teach our children about the significance of this day - helping them understand the value of peace, the cost of conflict, and the importance of showing respect and gratitude to those who have protected our freedoms. We all observed a minute's silence at 11:00 on Tuesday, giving our children the opportunity to reflect on what Remembrance means.

Meet Shelley - Our New Admin Officer
If you haven't met Shelley yet, she's our fantastic new Admin Officer and a brilliant addition to our office team! Shelley joins Mrs Howe (Senior Admin Officer) and Mrs Wallis (Finance Officer) in making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. If you need anything at all, the office team are here to help - don't hesitate to pop in or give them a call.
Celebrating Our Attendance Champions
A huge thank you to all the families who got their children to school on time every day last week – your commitment to your child's education makes a real difference to their learning and progress.
Our whole school attendance dipped slightly below the national average last week, which is unusual for us as we typically perform very well compared to both national figures and local schools. Every day at school matters, and we know that building strong relationships with families and removing barriers to attendance helps ensure all children can benefit from the excellent education and experiences we offer.
Let's work together to get back on track this week – if you're facing any challenges getting your child to school, please don't hesitate to reach out so we can support you.
School Photographer - Thursday 20th November
Just a quick reminder that the photographer will be in school on Thursday 20th November taking pictures of individuals and siblings. Order forms will follow!
Help Us Fill Our School - Reception 2026
It's that time of year when families are choosing a school for their child to start in Reception in September next year. Every Friday we welcome families on our open morning and I'm always so proud to show off our wonderful school. The children make everyone feel so welcome and really showcase what makes Southill Primary special.
Ensuring the school is full each year maximises our funding and ensures we are able to continue providing outstanding opportunities for your children. If you know of anyone who may be looking for a Reception place for September 2026, please do encourage them to come on a tour. Tours run every Friday at 11:00 - no need to book.
Thank you all for your continued support. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes,
Caroline
