Finding our Zen
Namasteee indeed! With the weather doing more twists and turns than a pretzel, our planned handball session transformed into hands on mats as Year 5 enjoyed a well-earned assessment week breather and explored the world of yoga. Finding our zen quickly became the mission and the children certainly rose to the challenge…
From warrior pose to planking, fallen star to downward dog, the class was challenged to design a full yoga routine that others could confidently follow. Using a chosen piece of music as inspiration, they held each stretch for 8 seconds, practised introducing their fitness class with calm authority and worked out how to glide from one position to the next so the sequence flowed like a very trickling river. There was serious focus, plenty of balance and the occasional wobble that proved gravity even has a sense of humour!
I discovered muscles I didn’t even know I owned thanks to some of the yoga routines and a few muscles that filed official complaints hours later. Well done Year 5. Your routines were creative, your teamwork was brilliant and your reciprocity shone through. You truly bent over backwards (literally) for this session and made it look easy.
