First full week in year 4!
This term, our classroom has been transformed into a time machine as we’ve travelled back through ancient history to the very beginnings of Rome. From the legendary founding of the city in 753 BCE to the rise of the Roman Empire in 43 BCE, we’ve been on an exciting journey through time!
Our historians in training have been discovering just what made the Roman Imperial Army one of the most powerful forces in history. From their clever formations to the discipline and training of soldiers, we've explored the secrets behind their strength and the children have loved stepping into the sandals of Roman soldiers.
In writing this week, we’ve been swept away by the beautiful and poetic story "The Baker by the Sea". Inspired by the rhythm and daily life of a coastal village, each child has taken on a unique job role in our imaginary seaside community, from blacksmiths and bakers to fisher-girls and shop keepers.
We’ve written creative and persuasive job adverts to show off our roles and the children have been incredibly imaginative! You might find yourself tempted to apply for a job in our bustling village (though you’ll have to compete with some very persuasive candidates).
