We are mini professors!

This morning we were really lucky to have an exciting science lesson with Professor Lee from mini professors!

In today's lesson we learnt about living things. how they have certain characteristics that are essential for keeping them alive and talked about how these living things - in particular plants- adapt to suit their environment.

In the lesson we made our own Cacti! We learnt about how this plant is suited to its dry environment - the desert! We also talked about how it uses its thick, fleshy stem to absorb and store water and how the waxy coating on its skin reduces the loss of water in the heat.

Of course, we couldn't learn about them without talking about their spikes! These are used for protection. Stopping animals from eating them.

We also looked at different animals and their habitats, we used material to make sand dunes and turned water blue, adding 'ice' with bricks. We decided which animals would be best suited to these environments and why.

We have had so much fun with the mini professors today! We can't wait until next time!

Well done Year 2
