Fossil Fun with Mini Professors!

This week we were lucky enough to have another visit from Mini Professors.

Our session this time focused on fossils, identifying them and making them. This was great timing, as we were able to revist and apply lots of our learning from our Mary Anning topic and trip which we absolutely loved in the Spring term.

Professor Lee was really impressed with our knowledge about how fossils are formed and our ability to identify different fossils. We learnt about the two different fossil types; body fossils, which are formed from the hard parts of the remains such as teeth and bones and trace fossils which leave an imprint, such as footprints.

In the photos you can see us identifying fossils, making dough and then creating our own imprint fossils using shells and dinosaur 'skeletons'.

What a great time we had... we can't wait until the next one!
