Hockey Heroes Hit the Pitch!
This afternoon, 10 enthusiastic Year 5 children swapped the classroom for the AstroTurf as they headed to Redlands 3G to take part in an exciting hockey festival - and what an action-packed event it was!
Led by expert coaches from Weymouth Hockey Club, the children dived into a series of fast-paced, skill-building sessions. From mastering the perfect grip to sharp passing, slick dribbling, crucial interceptions, powerful shooting and fearless goalkeeping - our budding hockey stars gave it their all! Every child rose to the challenge and it was fantastic to see their confidence grow with every drill and game.
Southill definitely made an impression in their bold blue polo shirts - not just looking the part, but playing the part too! Coaches were full of praise for the children's enthusiasm, teamwork, and positive attitude (several even encouraged them to continue playing outside of school).
If your child is keen to take their skills further, Weymouth Hockey Club runs weekly sessions at 7pm on Wednesdays at Redlands 3G - a brilliant opportunity to stay active, make friends, and be part of a vibrant local club.
We're so proud of our young players, and we can’t wait for them to bring their new skills and energy back into our PE lessons. Go Team Southill!
