Southill Shine at Weymouth and Portland Netball Competition

The sun was shining and spirits were high as seven determined Southill pupils arrived at Budmouth Academy, ready to put their hard work from Tuesday netball club into action. Their commitment and enthusiasm paid off in a fantastic afternoon of netball as they competed in four group matches, aiming to retain the trophy they proudly won last year.

🏐 Game One

Southill 7 – 0 St Augustine's
Scorers: Georgia x2, Zeff x3, Hudson x1, Skyla x1

Southill came out firing. Quick passing, excellent movement up the court and confident finishing led to a dominant and impressive opening win.

🏐 Game Two

✅ Southill 6 – 0 St John's
Scorers: Bella x3, Max x1, Zeff x2

Bella was unstoppable in the first half, scoring three quick goals to put St John's immediately under pressure. In the second half, Mia, Skyla and Georgia worked tirelessly to keep play in the attacking half. Another clean sheet and another strong win.

🏐 Game Three

✅ Southill 15 – 1 St Andrew's
Scorers: Georgia x2, Skyla x1, Hudson x8, Bella x4

Despite conceding late into the half to make it 3–1 just before the break, the team stayed calm. Hudson and Bella were outstanding in the second half, converting chance after chance in a superb attacking display.

🏐 Game Four

✅ Southill 8 – 0 Bincombe Valley
Scorers: Georgia x1, Zeff x3, Skyla x4

With little rest between matches and the sun beating down, the team could have slowed the pace. Instead, they pushed on. Zeff showed composure in the first half while Skyla added four goals in the second. Mia, Hudson and Bella were relentless in winning possession and launching wave after wave of attack.

After the group stages, Southill progressed to the semi final to face Radipole Primary School, a team they knew would provide a tough challenge.

🏐 Semi Final

✅ Southill 4 – 3 Radipole
Scorers: Skyla x3, Max x1

A blistering start saw Skyla score three quick goals. The second half was tense as Radipole fought back, narrowing the gap. A crucial goal from Max restored a two goal cushion before a late Radipole goal set up a nervy finish. The team held their nerve and secured a well deserved place in the final!!

🏐 Final

❌ Southill 0 – 4 St Osmond's

Facing a strong and well organised St Osmond's side, Southill gave everything but could not quite find the breakthrough. Despite the result, reaching the final was a huge achievement and a testament to the team's determination and resilience.

A Team to Be Proud Of!!!

Every player played a vital role in this fantastic performance. Georgia, Zeff, Hudson, Skyla, Bella, Max and Mia all contributed with energy, teamwork and determination throughout the day.

Finishing as the highest placed small school means Southill proudly retain their Netball Champions Trophy. An incredible achievement and one that could even lead to county level competition in the future.

A huge thank you to Natalie for helping with transport and making the day possible. A special thanks to Mrs Bugler for organising such a fun competition and to all the umpires who officiated today with real confidence.

Well done to all seven players. You should be extremely proud of yourselves.
