Exploring Electricity and Circuits!💡⚡️🔋

This term in Year 4 science, we’ve been diving into the exciting world of electricity! We’ve been learning all about how circuits work, discovering that a circuit needs to be complete for electricity to flow. We’ve been learning about how batteries, wires, bulbs, and switches all come together to make things light up.

One of the most interesting parts was learning about conductors and insulators. Conductors are materials that let electricity flow through them, like metal, while insulators stop electricity, like plastic or rubber. We had fun testing different materials to find out which ones were conductors and which were not. Some of the results were surprising!

To put our knowledge into practice, we even tried making our own switches using tinfoil and paper clips. It was a great hands-on activity where we experimented with opening and closing a circuit by moving the paper clip or tinfoil. It really helped us understand how real switches work and made us feel like real engineers!
Well done Year 4!
