New year 5 - The Vanquishers
Was Aaron really there? That is the question...
We had a brilliant Book Talk session this week based on The Vanquishers!
The children worked incredibly hard in pairs, carefully gathering evidence from the text before tackling a big question: Was Aaron really there?
The class then split into two groups. One side argued that Aaron was really there, while the other argued that he wasn’t real. Both sides used evidence from the text to justify their thinking and explain their ideas.
What was particularly impressive was the way the children listened to one another, challenged different viewpoints and built on each other’s ideas. They didn’t just give an answer – they referred back to the text and used evidence to make their arguments convincing.
It was fantastic to see such thoughtful discussion, confident debating and brilliant teamwork. Well done, everyone! 📖👏
