Book Week at Southill Primary!

What a wonderful week it has been at Southill Primary! It's been brilliant to see the children so engaged and excited about their learning especially their reading.

World Book Day Celebrations

Yesterday's World Book Day celebrations were absolutely fantastic. The energy and enthusiasm from all our pupils was incredible to see. A huge highlight was our visit from poet Alex Wharton, who delivered truly amazing sessions for the children.

Alex's poems were both funny and entertaining, and the children absolutely loved every moment. I'm delighted to share that Alex told me afterwards that we had been a "brilliant school" – high praise indeed! If you'd like to enjoy some of Alex's wonderful poetry at home with your children, you can find his work on his website: www.alexwharton.poet.co.uk.

End of Term Assessments

As we approach the end of term (just a few weeks to go now!), our staff are carrying out assessments to monitor your child's progress. We're mindful of not over-testing the children, but it's important that we have an accurate picture of how each child is getting on so that we can report this to you properly and plan the next steps for their learning. These assessments help us ensure every child is making good progress and allow us to identify where additional support might be helpful. If you have any questions about any of the assessments, please ask your child's class teacher.

Support from FOSS

Did you know that our wonderful FOSS volunteers run a Tuck Shop on Fridays after school on the KS1 playground? Most items are £1 and all profits go directly into supporting the school. We're incredibly grateful for their continued support!

Important Reminder About Parking and Safety

I've noticed that some parents have been parking in the staff car park and walking across it at drop-off and pick-up times. Please can I ask that you avoid doing this, as it really isn't safe. The car park is in use throughout the day with staff vehicles coming and going, which creates a risk to both adults and children.

Please also continue to be considerate of our neighbours by avoiding parking on kerbs or on the roundabout. We really appreciate your cooperation in keeping everyone safe and our local community happy.

Thank you for your continued support.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.
