Exploring COOL time (Choose our own learning)

Reception Class Blog 🌟

What a busy and exciting week we have had in Reception! Our focus has been COOL Time – Choose Our Own Learning, and the children have certainly made the most of the opportunity to follow their own interests, explore new ideas and develop their skills through play.

We have been dressing up as superheroes, creating imaginative stories and adventures, and using natural resources to make our own cakes. In the art area, the children have enjoyed creating beautiful tissue paper collages, while our playdough activities have been fantastic for developing those all-important fine motor skills.

The sand area has been a hive of activity too, with the children enthusiastically digging and building with the diggers. It has been wonderful to see them working together, sharing ideas and using their imaginations as they play.

However, the real highlight of our week has been starting our phonics and reading groups! The children have made such a fantastic start and have really impressed us with their enthusiasm, listening skills and willingness to have a go. We are incredibly proud of the confidence they have already shown in their first phonics sessions.
