First Forest School

Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic first Forest School session!

We started by getting to know our Forest School area, talking through the rules and boundaries and thinking about how we can keep ourselves and each other safe while enjoying the outdoors.

Then it was time to get creative! Using clay and inspiration from the woodland around us, the children made their own woodland creatures. We had some brilliant creations and lots of imagination on show!

Next came one of the highlights of the session – fire lighting! The children learned how to safely use flint and steels with cotton wool, showing great perseverance as they worked on creating sparks and getting their cotton wool to catch. It was lovely to see the Y4's helping the Y3's with skills they had picked up from Leeson House last year.

After all that hard work, there was only one way to finish our first session… hot chocolate! A lovely treat to enjoy together outdoors.

What a brilliant start to our Forest School adventures. We’re already looking forward to next week!
