This week the children have been learning about light and shadows. They have learnt that the sun in our solar system is static and that it is the Earth that orbits it while at the same time spinning on its axis. The children have learnt that the spinning causes night and day. On a particularly wet day when we couldn't get outside to measure our shadows, the children used a torch and objects in the class to get the shadows they created to change position.
Once it was sunny though we headed outside and measure our shadows at 9.30am and then at 2.30pm. The children were amazed to see that the Earth had spun as their shadows were in a different position!
