Potato Wedges and stinky tzatziki
We have had a super busy day in Y2 today. We started by harvesting our potatoes from the compost bucket and then thoroughly washed them.
Luckily we had some amazing helpers (HUGE thank you to you all) who came in and helped us with the cutting. We learned how to safely use a knife and all successfully chopped our potatoes into wedges. We seasoned them with oregano, paprika and salt and pepper.
We then set to work on the tzatziki. We de-seeded the cucumbers, diced them into tiny pieces and did the same with the garlic. Our classroom smelled delicious! Then we mixed together the cucumber with the yoghurt and garlic to make the dip. We added a squeeze of lemon juice too.
The wedges went into the oven at lunchtime and were ready for us to try after play. Again, we had a little team of helpers, who we could not have done without! We ate them with wraps and the tzatziki. Yum!
So many children tried something new today, whether that was eating a new food, learning a new skill, or realising that they need to try food more than once before they make up their minds whether they like it or not!
Well done Y2!
