Runner beans and inventions!

Reception Class Blog 🌱🤖🐾
What a wonderful week we have had in Reception!
We had a very exciting discovery in our flower beds — our runner beans have been growing! Woohoo! 🌱 We carefully explored one of the beans by dissecting it and looking closely at what was inside. We talked about how plants grow, where the beans come from, and how we need to prepare them safely before eating them.
We have also continued our fantastic inventions theme, inspired by our Gizmos learning. We have been discovering how inventions can help animals and make their lives easier. The children were fascinated to learn about inventions such as wheelchairs for dogs, blind halos to help dogs move around safely, and special socks and boots that can protect animals’ paws after surgery or during hot weather. 🐶🐾
The children then became inventors themselves and shared some brilliant ideas about inventions they would create for their own pets. Their creativity and imagination were amazing — Melanie was blown away by their fantastic thinking! Some children even designed and created their very own robots linked to our Gizmos theme. 🤖✨
We also enjoyed some special buddy time in the hall with our Year 6 friends. The children loved drawing, creating and spending time together — it has quickly become one of their favourite moments of the week! It has been wonderful to see the friendships growing between our youngest and oldest pupils. 💛
Another busy week full of curiosity, creativity and wonderful learning in Reception!
