Superstar Reception Class! ⭐

What an incredible time we've had since returning from half term! Your children have been absolutely brilliant, and we wanted to share just how proud we are of them all.

Amazing adaptability

Reception Class has handled some big changes recently with real maturity and resilience. We've had new teachers join the class – myself (Caroline) and Louisa, who are covering while Melanie is on placement. Mrs Kench is now working more in Year 2, and sadly Lucy has been off sick. We're all missing Lucy and hope she gets better very soon!

The good news is that Kelly is now working with us every day in Reception, and we've been very lucky to have Kate with us on Mondays and Tuesdays. Kate has been doing some amazing crafts with the children, and they've absolutely loved it!

The children have taken all these changes completely in their stride, and we couldn't be prouder of how they've adapted.

Learning about growth and nature 🌱

We've been working on our new story, The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle, and the children have been fascinated by it! They've planted different types of seeds, and we're thrilled to say that some of them have already begun to grow.

Today, the children wrote some amazing non-fiction books about what plants need to thrive. The quality of their writing and understanding has been fantastic!

Book Week celebrations 📚

We also met up with our buddies and shared stories with them – it was brilliant timing for Book Week! The children loved spending time with their older friends and sharing their favourite books together.

Enjoying the sunshine ☀️

We've also managed to get outside to enjoy the lovely sunshine. We're learning all about different types of weather at the moment, and the children will soon become weather reporters – watch this space!

A note from Caroline

I have absolutely LOVED teaching Reception Class and getting to know each and every one of your wonderful children. Please forgive me for the odd slip-up as I settle in – I forgot to send home some of the reading books today! I promise I'll quickly get used to the routine again, and things will run as smoothly as when Mel is here.

I really appreciate all your support during this transition period. Your children are a credit to you, and it's a joy to teach them every day.

Thank you for your continued partnership!
