The floor is lava…for balloons 🎈

Pop and Play Sports Club – Week 2

Week 2 of Pop and Play Sports Club was another action-packed session full of fun, teamwork and plenty of balloon challenges!

To kick-start the session, we warmed up with a balloon activity where the aim was to keep the balloon in the air using different body parts. We worked our way from our toes all the way up to our noses! There were lots of laughs as everyone tried their best to keep their balloons floating.

Next, we tackled an exciting obstacle course. First, we had to dribble our balloons between a series of cones before moving on to a tricky challenge of jumping from hoop to hoop with the balloon squeezed between our legs - all without popping it! We then tested our accuracy by batting the balloon into a hoop, before finishing the course by walking as fast as we could while balancing the balloon on one hand. This proved to be much harder than it looked!

After that, we challenged ourselves to see how many keepy-ups we could complete in one minute. The children showed great determination and concentration as they tried to beat their personal bests.

We then split into teams for some relay races. One race involved heading the balloon along the course, while another had us waddling with the balloon between our legs😂.

To finish the session, we took part in a fantastic team challenge (hence the hi-vis jackets! 😂). Bean bags were scattered all around the hall and each team had its own base. The objective was simple but challenging: keep your balloon in the air while collecting one bean bag at a time and returning it to your team's base. If your balloon touched the floor, you would lose a point! This activity was a brilliant way to develop teamwork, communication, and coordination. It was especially pleasing to see how honest the children were, with many immediately admitting when their balloon had touched the floor.

Overall, it was another brilliant week at Pop and Play Sports Club. The children showed fantastic teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the session. We can't wait to see what challenges Week 3 brings! 🎈
