Our First Audio Experience: We Are All Different! 🦕🎉

Today, Reception enjoyed our very first audio experience as we listened carefully to the wonderful story We Are All Different. The children were encouraged to actively listen, think about the characters and reflect on the important messages within the story.

The story follows a little girl called Chan, whose mum is too unwell to organise her fifth birthday party. Wanting to make sure Chan still has a special day, her friends step up and work together to plan a fantastic celebration!

Throughout the story, we discovered how everyone played a special part in making Chan’s birthday unforgettable. We made pictures alongside Jaden and his grandad, cooked delicious samosas with Savi and her mums, and dressed up with Harry and his foster mum. With everyone contributing their own ideas, skills and experiences, the children worked tirelessly to organise a wonderful dinosaur-themed party for Chan! 🦖🎂

This learning experience sparked some lovely discussions about similarities and differences. We explored how people may have different cultures, abilities, family members, caregivers, homes and favourite foods, but that these differences are what make each of us unique and special.

Most importantly, the children discovered the value of kindness, inclusion and teamwork. They learnt that when we work together, celebrate one another’s differences and help those around us, we can achieve something truly wonderful.

Our first audio experience was a fantastic opportunity to develop our listening skills, build our understanding of the world and reflect on how we can be kind and supportive friends. We are so proud of the children for engaging so thoughtfully with the story and its meaningful message.
